We're currently beating Arsenal 2 - 4 after trailing 1 - 0 for a while. Hopefully we can add a fifth goal before the end.

Unhappy Bad News Liverpool Fans

Things aren't looking good for a top four finish this season. Klopp has issued a statement defending Alberto Moreno in spite of the fact he is patently a major liability in defence. If Klopp can't see that and has no plans to buy a half decent left back, there is no chance Liverpool will secure a Champions League place.

In the few games I saw last season (mainly Euro League) Moreno looked terrible, defense as a whole looked sketchy. With the (lack of quality) new additions to the defense, were you LFC fans really looking/hoping for improvement?
I will say that I have never been a fan of Klopp (he did ok in Germany, but his squad was too good not to in a weak league), but his style is entertaining. It will expose your team's weakness defensively, though.

I might actually start watching LFC games this year, your offense is good and should score in bunches, but opponents will have their opportunties as well.

Personally, the bare minimum I was expecting was for Klopp to realise that Liverpool's biggest problem for the past 4 - 5 seasons has been the awful defensive frailties, therefore prioritise buying a new keeper (which admittedly he has) and building a new back four.

If there hasn't been a noticeable improvement by the new year, questions will need to be asked.

Looking at the list of transfers you posted earlier in this thread, is there any hope of building a decent back four? I actually like Clyne, but that is about it. Having watched Matip for some years now, I do not rate him as a good defender, let alone above average which is what LFC desperately needed, Klavan shouldn't start for a club that just reached a European Cup final and has high ambitions in the Premier League. So, what is Klopp putting out there? Read somewhere that Matip looked bad in preseason and doesn't have a role yet and Milner played left back? That sounds desperate already.

No.

I'm not really bothered about what happens in pre-season, it doesn't really mean anything. We beat Barcelona 4 - 0, but in a competitive match we would have no chance of beating them.

Exactly! Moreno's name should have been the first on the transfer list out of the club, so either Klopp felt he was worth keeping but has changed his mind, or no other club wants to sign such a useless defender.

It's probably far too early to be saying this but it already looks like it will be a three horse race between United, City and Chelsea this season. Which means Liverpool are going to have to compete for fourth place with Spurs, Arsenal, Leicester City, Everton and West Ham.

Very pleased with Everton's start.

Maybe quality coaching will get them to match their results with their talent level.

They should compete with Liverpool/West Ham/Tottenham etc...for the spots outside the Big 4.
