Linux Mint Cinnamon Hacked
Just a head up for Linux lovers.
Linux Mint official site got hacked yesterday trough their Wordpress site.
Bad guys replaced original ISO file for Cinnamon distro with one that have backdoor.
Official Mint site is down and working on fix.
Do you need to worry?
No, unless you had a bad luck to download mentioned ISO yesterday.
Only Mint 17.3 Cinnamon ISO file has been hacked with backdoor. And only ISO file downloaded February 20. 2016. might bi risky. So if you downloaded it yesterday, delete the file and wait for official notice about security issue.
If you downloaded yesterday and installed it, well you have really bad luck.
It is strictly advised to format your hard drive, reinstall with another OS, replace all passwords, etc.
Enjoy the smell of cinnamon
