Network special is March 12, called Roadblock. 8 Eastern, 5 Pacific.

Triple H (c) v Dean Ambrose for World Title
Roman Reigns v Shemus

Boring PPV so far. Not worth the monthly fee imo.

Best thing on the show was Stephanie. I was thinking, shit, they are actually gonna make her do that speech after all but she thankfully didn't. What she was harking on about was boring but at least she made it sound important.

Ambrose still selling like he's been shot... he has taken worse beatings than that and been fine within a week. A championship match at the Network special I had no clue was happening and still don't know when it is. I guess Triple H is too good to be wrestling on Raw now... I wish one of the part timers would just go fuck it, I'll wrestle on Raw, you know, like I used to all the time. They are using Dean to get heat on Triple H because they can't succeed with Roman.

That Sasha-Becky match finish was so fake. Sasha just fell back and allowed herself to get pinned. Nobody is buying that it won't be a triple threat. Just announce the damn thing already. At least would of got some news worthy something for Mania out of this show. May as well not be happening.

AJ and Y2J are actually a team... way to screw that up. Tag wrestling is shit now and those two tagging at Mania is lame as fuck. Just feels like Y2J wants to help AJ a lot but does he really need it? They are using two guys who should be in high profile singles matches to make the tag division seem like it means something.

What was with LoN doing that stupid whistling spin shit. Looked like a bunch of idiots imitating a helicopter and that theme music, it sounds worse every time I hear it and even worse it can get stuck in my brain. It's awful drivel. Just disband the group already. They aren't doing anything meaningful and are fodder for New Day. That match is not Mania worthy. I guess New Day lose the belts next week so they can go on that feud properly now.

I was hoping for big things at Mania and still not feeling it. If those booked so far are the best matches they can come up with and the rest are just fodder then it's a pity.
I was bored by Raw as well... I had a project I've been working on that I did during the first half of Raw so I just had it on in the background while I completed that. I only looked up a few times. From what I saw the Sasha/Becky match was good but they're always good. I agree that the finish was really stupid, and that they need to just put these 3 in a triple threat match at Mania already. Clearly that's what it's leading up to.

Stephanie was boring me to tears. One of my friends actually called that the best promo of the year. Really? The Rock was 10 times better than that before he even made it into the actual arena.

I knew Taker wasn't going to do much. They trotted him out there because he may be retiring soon and it was probably that crowd's last chance to see an Undertaker entrance. It asked more questions than answers. Why is he working for Vince?

I think the Y2AJ thing may just be temporary and one will turn on the other, setting up a special stipulation match for Mania. Or maybe they'll feud with the Wyatts? They're not on the card yet.

Haha you described the League of Nations music perfectly. It's so lame and uninspired, but it sure does get stuck in your head. If you want to do something funny, play the League of Nations theme over any wrestler's Titantron video and see how lame it makes it. I tried it with Evolution and DX, hilariously bad.

This Mania has the potential to be one of the worst ones of them all... let's hope something changes between now and then. Maybe that network special will do something for the better.

Meltzer was all praise for the Stephanie promo and said about 80% of it was real. It probably seemed extra awesome because the rest of the show sucked and just wanted something good. I could tell it was above average but I wasn't bowing down all hailing it and frankly it would of been a lot better if she was saying it to Shane face to face.

Imagine hearing that LoN shit booming out in the Texas stadium. Makes Naomi and Bries' music sound top class.

I've been an invested fan of WWE for decades, and it's just gotten so bad lately. I'm not even excited for the upcoming Wrestlemania. There are so many high profile matches that could've been set up to make this a blockbuster event, but it just feels like another edition of Monday Night Raw really.

Reigns vs. HHH was the most predictable set up for the main event and we can pretty much be assured Reigns will get his Wrestlemania "moment". Unless Rollins makes a return and screws either competitor, I won't care for this much.

I'm not enjoying "Y2AJ" either. I'd rather AJ be on his own, and climbing the ranks to prove he's more than this labeled "rookie" in the industry.

I'm not going to enjoy Lesnar vs. Ambrose. With their characters, I don't find it believable that Ambrose could pose a threat to Lesnar. Ambrose can put on a good show by getting beat down and getting back up but defeating Lesnar, no. I'm hoping for some sort of Wyatt interference where they destroy both of them.

Everything else that the company seems to be setting up seems either pointless, predictable or random (ie. Shane O'Mac vs. Taker, New Day vs. ANYBODY, Kevin Owens vs. ANYBODY) I just don't see this being a big deal.

Default Forbes: HHH/Ambrose means less fan support for Reigns

Quote:
That’s bad news for Roman Reigns. Not because Reigns won’t be getting his WrestleMania 32 title shot anymore. In fact, he still will.

It’s because giving the fans Ambrose vs. Triple H only reminds them how much they’d rather see Ambrose as the newly crowned face of the WWE instead of Reigns.

The reactions of the live crowd on the road to WrestleMania 32 have made it abundantly clear that, despite how much Reigns has been pushed, Ambrose is their guy. On last week’s Monday Night Raw, Triple H put a world class beatdown on Reigns, and what did the crowd do? It actually cheered for Triple H.

On this week’s Raw, Triple H attacked Ambrose in similar fashion, and what did the crowd do this time around? It booed Triple H out of the building. That tells us a lot, a lot about Ambrose, but even more about Reigns.

Anyone who watches WWE programming consistently can tell you that Ambrose is getting the reactions that those within the company want Reigns to get, and so the company is certainly pushing Ambrose more these days, but not quite as much as Reigns.

Ambrose’s skyrocketing popularity, however, has given him a TV feud with Triple H during Reigns’ short absence, and after just one week, it’s already proven to be highly entertaining. But if the plan is still to crown Reigns at WrestleMania, then Ambrose vs. Triple H is a terrible turn of events. For Reigns, that is.

The more chances that Ambrose is given to shine, the better he performs. The better he performs, the more the fans want to see him succeed. That’s fantastic, and clearly well deserved, for Ambrose, but the unfortunate side effect here is that it’s putting Reigns into a terrible situation that only further hurts his chances of ever getting over with the majority of the audience.

After all, why would the fans cheer for Reigns when they can cheer for Ambrose instead?

WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin sees Reigns’ struggles as a problem as well, but said on The Steve Austin Show (h/t WrestlingInc) that Vince McMahon will continue to push Reigns because of the effort he’s put into building Reigns up:

“To me, it’s like Vince chose this guy and he’s sticking with him. Whatever the fans think, whether it’s the smart marks, or the casual fans, or the fervent fans, I don’t know. He’s sticking with this guy and I don’t know.” Austin added, “he not going to pick another guy because he has so much invested in this guy, so he [has] got to keep riding him, but he could ride him in a different direction, but you can’t back off the gas pedal. Babyface or heel, you’ve got to keep the pedal to the metal with this guy because if you don’t, he will become an also-ran immediately.”

McMahon has invested, both literally and figuratively, a lot into making Reigns the heir apparent to John Cena: Time, money, effort, booking, etc. The main story arc of WWE TV over the past year or so has been Reigns’ rise to the top of the company, and while WrestleMania 32 is supposed to be the climax of that journey, the pay-per-view’s ticket sales have been incredibly disappointing, with the WWE selling out AT&T Stadium looking less and less likely by the day.

All that time spent on Reigns. All that effort. Still, a tremendous letdown. And the disappointment isn’t over.

The supposed rise of Reigns is going to hit another bump in the road at WWE Roadblock, when Ambrose battles Triple H in a match that, although Triple H will almost assuredly win it, will showcase the love the fans have for Ambrose and, by default, the hatred they have for Reigns.

You can safely assume that Ambrose will be cheered wildly on March 12th in front of a raucous Toronto crowd that will pull no punches and hold nothing back. It will be a well earned moment for Ambrose as he gets the biggest title shot of his career and, win or lose, an unforgettable moment worthy of a WrestleMania.

All the while, Reigns will look like the forgotten cast member of a movie in which he’s supposed to be the star.

That’s great for Ambrose, but no so much for Roman Reigns.
I read this last night and the writer hit the nail on the head. Rewatching HHH's beatdown on Dean, it's undeniable he simply connects better with the crowd. His "Thanks," after the beatdown came off as endearing. The crowd laughed and applauded, which incensed Hunter who proceeded to assault him. The crowd response went according to plan because Dean connects in the underdog, scrappy face role. They really are shooting themselves in the foot if the goal is still Roman being numero uno as far as babyfaces go.

Wouldn't matter if Dean was the guy Vince had planned all along -- perception is everything, and they've attempted to molest viewers with Roman Reigns for two years, but here comes the guy who is clearly booked inferior to him, and yet he's more charismatic and communicates with the audience better. They could inadvertently end up creating another Daniel Bryan situation, which would be hilariously ironic. It's almost as if the WM card is still undecided.

There's an air of uncertainty that I've never felt or seen during any other Mania season. Surely Vince sees what's happening?

Well... I wouldn't go that far. League of Nations music makes me bored, Naomi and Brie's music makes my ears bleed. I also really, really hate the Lucha Dragons theme. I don't get why CFO$ only writes about 20 or 30 seconds of music per wrestler and then loops it. It makes every song suck, and if they were expanded upon, some would actually have the potential to be good.

I agree with you, but to be fair, I was underwhelmed leading up to last year's Mania too. The match card didn't seem like anything special. But then the actual event ended up being my favorite Mania in a long, long time. So they might surprise us.

I'm sure he realizes it, just like everyone does. Vince's problem has always been that he just doesn't care what the audience wants. Don't forget his favorite quote; "I'd rather have a half full arena cheering for who I tell them to than a full arena cheering for whoever they want." That's why someone like Sandow, who gets the third or 4 biggest pop on the entire roster, is jobbing on Superstars and you never see him. He isn't the guy Vince wants to push. Luckily fans seem smarter nowadays, and any fan support for Reigns will be short lived. People speak with their wallets. Then maybe Vince will be forced to push Ambrose, like in a Daniel Bryan situation. We shall see.

Mania has never been the PPV of the year, even if it was first. Royal Rumble is the GOAT, at least on thee WWF side.

Japanese professional wrestling legend Eiji Ezaki, better known as Hayabusa. died last night at the age of 47 of a subarachnoid hemorrhage. He was found dead at his home by the owner of a nearby tavern he was supposed to do a small concert for that day, but didn't show up. It was suspected that he must have fallen at his home whether it be that day or days earlier.

In October 2001, Ezaki suffered a career-ending injury during a match against Mammoth Sasaki. Ezaki attempted a springboard moonsault off the middle rope and lost footing, landing on his head, cracking two of his vertebrae and leaving him paralyzed. The injury provoked a high fever and required surgery. Ezaki was considered the heart and soul of FMW, and after his departure, the company slowly folded.

One of the most moving things that I ever saw was him walking down to the ring last year unassisted.

So Lesnar is facing Bray at Roadblock. If it was me, what I'd do is have Trips face Ambrose for the title and then Brock v Reigns in the other match. Surely that would be best for business?
